Shaker Heights Hazardous Waste Disposal
Hazardous waste is anything with ‘POISON,’ DANGER,’ ‘WARNING’ or ‘CAUTION’ on the label. To help residents dispose of these items, the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District (CCSWD) offers a countywide Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Program. Additionally, in 2018, Shaker Heights will have special collections at the Service Center at 15600 Chagrin Boulevard on the following dates: May 5, 6, 12, 13 Sept. 15, 16, 22, 23
Tire Disposal in Shaker Heights
Looking to dispose of tires? The City of Shaker Heights has a year-round drop-off at the Service Center on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Proper Disposal of Medications
The Sheriff’s RX Drop Box Programs also allows residents to deposit medications at drop boxes in participating law enforcement agencies across the county. Residents can take their unused, unwanted or expired prescription drugs to the drop box at the Shaker Heights Police Department, located at:

Battery Disposal
Since there is no curbside collection for rechargeable batteries, you can recycle them through Call2Recycle. Lead acid batteries, like those used in vehicles, can be dropped off at the Service Center on Chagrin Blvd.
