What Can't Go in My Dumpster?
Although we accept most residential and construction debris, there are some items that require separate disposal, such as any flammable, toxic or hazardous materials. The City of Cleveland Heights provides solutions for getting rid of old tires, hazardous household products and other hard-to-recycle items.
Disposal of Hazardous Waste
Hazardous waste is anything that has ‘POISON,’ ‘DANGER,’ ‘WARNING’ or ‘CAUTION’ on the label. This includes common household cleaning products, gasoline, bleach and detergent. To help residents dispose of these items, the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District (CCSWD) offers a countywide Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Program . Additionally, CCSWD holds the Old Paint & Pesticide Round-Up twice a year in which Cleveland Heights participates.
How to Get Rid of Tires
Disposing of tires? Cleveland Heights has year-round curbside collection for tires and other bulk waste items, including appliances, furniture and mattresses. Tires must be separated from their rims and put out on your tree lawn between 7:00 p.m. the day before and 7:00 a.m. the day of your regular garbage collection. You can also dispose of tires at your nearest Conrad’s Tire Express & Total Car Care , Firestone Complete Auto Care or National Tire and Battery.
Battery Disposal
Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowe’s and many other retail stores that have Call2Recycle drop boxes accept rechargeable batteries. Find a drop-off location near you. Businesses can recycle their rechargeable and non-rechargeable batteries at the following companies:
